Bright Prospects for Portland’s Athletic Future?

I think it would be great for the city to have a major league team in Portland. I’m not sure the actual visit will reflect how much untapped enthusiasm Oregon has for another major league sport. I have to think that families from Eugene, Corvallis, Bend, and the rest of the state make regular trips to downtown Portland for the weekend series. They stayed in hotels, visited restaurants, and helped revitalize the city.

We will also need a distinct and obvious turnaround from city and state leadership. If the MLB franchise is indeed on the move, it’s like a battle between Portland and Las Vegas. Right now, due to the aforementioned issues, I would probably make Portland an underdog with six points.

I expected the team to be aggressive, have a good pitch, and make the few mistakes that a young team with no college baseball experience would make. The team seemed to enjoy the game and did their best on the field. When the schedule was announced, I realized that I only had to drive two or three minutes down the street to see the Ducks play their first baseball streak in 28 years. When I first heard that baseball was returning to the University of Oregon, I was in awe.
